A View of the Market

Near my old home at the Baptist Guesthouse there was a furniture outlet. It was really neat. It was literally a bunch of people making furniture out of leaves, reeds, cane, and other materials all day by the side of the road.

And, like Leon's, you can get delivery of your new furniture (but with an added personal touch):

There's also a guy there selling fresh coconuts right from the tree!

When I first got to Ghana, I thought this serene picture might be indicative of the peaceful quality of the Ghanaian open marketplace.

Then I went to the market.

After you visit the Makola Market, you need to take a mini-mental vacation. It is NOT for the faint of heart or the slow walker.

There are several ladies selling random meats at the market, including this lady selling Tilapia in the fabric shop

Yes, those are charred fishheads you see there.

And believe it or not, I actually had some and it was amazing (no, I didn't eat these ones.... I went to a slightly more reputable vendor of tilapia with couscous and plaintain. It was quite delicious! This dish is eaten with one hand without utensils.
